Patrice Evra has revealed how Sir Alex Ferguson persuaded him to reject a big-money transfer to Real Madrid - before stripping him of the Manchester United captaincy.
Evra, who called time on his playing career last summer, enjoyed a glittering spell in the Premier League which began when he signed for Ferguson's Red Devils in 2006.
The Frenchman went on to earn legendary status at Old Trafford, winning one Champions League title, the Premier League five times and the League Cup on three occasions.
But it could have been a different story if he had his wish and made a dream move to Real Madrid ahead of the 2010/11 campaign.
