Oldham Athletic have delayed what could have been the worst day in the club's history as they are on the verge of becoming the first ex-Premier League club to fall into the depths of the English football pyramid.Oldham fans took to the pitch today to protest the owners of the football club while trailing 2-1 to Salford City as their EFL status was on the verge of being snatched from them in what has been a disappointing season for the Latics.
The League Two side dropped out of the Premier League after just two seasons in the reformed top division in 1993/1994 season when they finished 21st in the table.
The club has since been the subject of years of turmoil, with this season proving to be the killer that could send them out of the English Football League.
Fans were seen pouring onto the pitch during the match today as pressure grows on the owner of the club, Abdallah Lesmagam, to sell up.Ten minutes before the end of the match, fans flooded the pitch with them refusing to move as tensions boiled over.
