Callers are being asked not to ring back to find out when their ambulance will arrive, and the service is also asking anyone who has previously called an ambulance but no longer feels that it is necessary to cancel it.
Anyone who calls with a non-life threatening condition may be asked to find alternative sources of care, or make their own way to hospital.
