One of Norway’s richest men has been charged with killing his wife after she vanished 18 months ago. Anne-Elisabeth Hagen, then 68, disappeared from her home on Halloween in 2018 in an apparent kidnapping.
Her millionaire husband Tom, 70, claimed to have come home to find a ransom letter demanding £8million in cryptocurrency for her release.
Hagen’s lawyers said they had received encrypted messages saying Anne-Elisabeth was still alive until July last year. While the public believed police were hunting for her kidnappers, detectives had in fact turned their attention to Anne-Elisabeth’s husband.
Officers say they found clues at the couple’s waterfront mansion just east of Oslo that Anne-Elisabeth had struggled with whoever abducted her.
