North Ayrshire's roads this year.The council has increased its investment as part of a wide-ranging programme of improvement works.

A total of £38.1 million will be spent on the region's roads over the next decade with that figure having been boosted earlier this year by an additional £15.6m.At a cabinet meeting this week, the further six-figure spend was approved which means £5.6m is being invested into roads and footways maintenance this year.Councillor Jim Montgomerie, cabinet member for Green New Deal and sustainability, said: “Roads condition is a national issue and we know that our residents want us to invest in areas they care about, such as improving the condition of the roads network.“That’s why our roads maintenance investment.
