Donald John Trump (born June 14, 1946) is the 45th and current president of the United States. Before entering politics, he was a businessman and television personality. Trump was born and raised in the New York City borough of Queens, and received a bachelor's degree in economics from the Wharton School. He took charge of his family's real-estate business in 1971, renamed it The Trump Organization, and expanded its operations from Queens and Brooklyn into Manhattan.
The company built or renovated skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses. Trump later started various side ventures, mostly by licensing his name. He owned the Miss Universe and Miss USA beauty pageants from 1996 to 2015, and produced and hosted The Apprentice, a reality television show, from 2003 to 2015. Forbes estimates his net worth to be $3.1 billion.
With the potential for a new pay-per-mile tax law set to be introduced soon, families across the UK are bracing for added costs to their holiday travel.
According to a recent poll of 2,000 drivers conducted by GM Direct Hire, 65% of respondents said a new tax could impact their travel plans this Christmas.
The tax, aimed at reducing congestion and lowering carbon emissions, as well as replacing the lost revenue from the petrol pump as more people drive electric cars and hybrids, could see drivers paying up to 15p per mile for long-distance journeys – a figure that could significantly affect the cost of driving home for the holidays.
For a family driving from London to Manchester (a 200-mile journey one way), the round trip would total 400 miles. With the pay-per-mile rate of 15p per mile, families could face an additional cost of £60 in tax for the journey.
