As people fear a Coronavirus second wave, major supermarkets Aldi, Woolworths and Coles have all placed buying restrictions on the number of masks each shopper can purchase.

The rules have been put in place in Melbourne, where there has been a massive surge in demand. Wearing masks in public becomes mandatory from tomorrow, in an effort to curb the city's recent COVID outbreak.

The restrictions are varied retailer to retailer. Woolies only allows shoppers to purchase one packet of face masks, while Aldi has limited customers to two packs.

Coles has broadened its restrictions for Victorians residing in locked-down suburbs. Each Coles shopper in an impacted region can only purchase one packet of face masks and two hand sanitisers.
