Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been instructed to continue playing Alexandre Lacazette by Ray Parlour despite Piers Morgan’s recent comments.The Gunners lost twice last week against Crystal Palace and Brighton, handing fierce rivals Tottenham the advantage in the race for the fourth spot.
Lacazette struggled on both occasions and questions have been raised of just how much of a goal threat the Frenchman is considering he has scored just once this calendar year.Morgan tweeted on Sunday that letting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave for Barcelona in January was a poor decision by Arteta, before adding: “We’re left with Lacazette, who hasn’t scored (from open play) this year.
Terrible decision that will cost us top four.”But Parlous believes that Arteta must persist with the former Lyon star, he told talkSport: “You’ve got to go with Lacazette still, he just needs a goal from somewhere.
They’ve got Chelsea coming up, they’ve got some big coming up, I think that week where they’ve got Chelsea, Man Utd and West Ham, they’ve got to probably get seven points out of those games to give them a chance I should imagine.“Tottenham have got Brighton next, Brentford, Leicester then Liverpool so they’re in pole position now, they’re probably massive odds-on favourites now to get the fourth spot.” Arsenal are currently sitting in fifth place in the Premier League and will be relying on their rivals to slip up if they are to return to the Champions League.Parlous continued: “It’s been a bad week for Arsenal if you’re an Arsenal fan, but they’ve still got a chance.
