Mike Ashley swoops for DW Sports assets to save jobs at bust fitness chain

Mike Ashley's Frasers Group has bought £37million worth of DW Sports assets, in a move that will ave "a number" of jobs at the bust firm.

Frasers Group, which includes Sports Direct and House of Fraser, said it has has bought "certain of the assets" but not the DW business name from administrators - and will spend up to another £6.9million depending on how leaseholders react. "Frasers Group looks forward to elevating the gym and fitness assets acquired pursuant to the Transaction under the group's existing iconic Everlast brand, and is also pleased to have saved a number of jobs," the firm said in a market update.
