The retail tycoon was happy to sell up for £300m to Saudi buyers but local custom decrees that no announcement should be made before the full completion.
There are still some i's to dot and t's to cross as well as approval from the Premier League. It means, though, that any confirmation could take weeks.
Ashley has confessed to close pals that a sale of the club is on the verge of being complete. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund are believed to be close to completing a £300m takeover with the deal having been brokered by Amanda Staveley.
