MICHAEL Barrymore had hoped taking part in this year’s Dancing On Ice would be his big telly comeback after years in the wilderness.
But after the former Strike It Lucky presenter broke his wrist in training in December and had to pull out of the competition, he looked set to return for the 2021 series.
Host Phillip Schofield promised the door would be open for him to do so. Sadly, ITV was not quite on the same page. Michael, whose career went south after partygoer Stuart Lubbock was found dead in the pool of his Essex mansion nearly 20 years ago, has now been told he is not part of the January show’s plans.
I am told that Channel 4 documentary Barrymore: The Body In The Pool, which aired earlier this year, did not help his cause.
