Melissa Etheridge opened up about the May death of her 21-year-old son Beckett Cypher during an emotional interview with Good Morning America on Tuesday morning (July 14). "Time does heal...
it's only been a couple months," Etheridge said. Beckett, who Etheridge had with former partner Julie Cypher, died from an opioid overdose.
Etheridge said she is taking things one day at a time, staying busy with her music and emerging from her period of quiet mourning to thank the world for all the kind thoughts and prayers they've shared. "I would like to walk this walk now of what's next," she said, taking the opportunity to announce the launch of a foundation honoring Beckett and supporting research into drug addiction.
