LIV Golf star Dean Burmester was caught in a heated exchange with a member of the Adelaide crowd on Sunday during the first ever team playoff of the breakaway league.Burmester, alongside his Stinger captain Louis Oosthuizen, was competing against home favourites Ripper GC in a nail-biting playoff to determine the team champion after Sunday's final round.
The two LIV Golf teams were neck and neck, finishing 54-holes tied at an impressive 53-under-par for the week. The tension escalated as two players from each side returned to the course to settle the event.
Representing Stinger were Burmester and Oosthuizen, while the Australian golf duo Cam Smith and Marc Leishman fought for Ripper. As expected, the Australian crowd threw their support behind their fellow countrymen Smith and Leishman, leading to a boisterous atmosphere around the 18th hole.
Despite this, it seemed the South Africans would clinch victory as they both hit their approaches close into the first playoff hole, offering two birdie putts to win.
