Holidaymakers have been issued with a grim warning from money-saving expert, Martin Lewis, over cancellation refunds. Writing in the latest issue of his Money Saving Expert newsletter, the financial guru advised those affected by cancelled flights that accepting a voucher rather than cash would make it “unlikely you'll be able to claim on a debit/credit card if the firm goes bust”.
Most travel firms have been offering vouchers and credit notes as opposed to instant cash refunds for cancellations, giving customers incentives such as extra money off alternate and additional future bookings.
