Earnings are up across Greater Manchester - but wages are growing slower in the region than across the UK as a whole. The average full-time employee in the UK earns £37,430 a year according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.

That’s up by 6.9% compared to 2023. The average full-time earnings in Greater Manchester, however, are £34,462 a year. That’s 5.3% higher than 12 months earlier, but it does mean that earnings are growing slower here than the country as a whole.

Manchester has the lowest wages of anywhere in the city-region. The average full-time salary in the city is £32,704 a year. That’s actually fractionally less than in 2023, down by 0.4%.
