Over the past half-decade, permutations of dancehall music from around the world have gone from regional sounds to global sensations. In 2023, it just might be galala's turn.

Wireless Festival has moved to London’s Finsbury Park – and will now take place there every summer until 2027.Despite the opposition of having the festival occur at the famous park, Haringey Council signed a five-year deal with Festival Republic, the promoter of Wireless, claiming that the event will raise “significant income’ for North London as well as boost the local economy.Wireless was previously arranged on a year-by-year basis with past venues including Hyde Park, Harewood House and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The festival, which draws up to 50,000 people a day, has been held annually in Finsbury Park since 2014 except for 2020-2021 due to COVID restrictions.The deal also gives Festival Republic permission to hold a second weekend of major events in the park.

Skillibeng is the breakout dancehall star of the past couple of years, joining the likes of Sean Paul and Vybz Kartel in the Jamaican hall of fame. The prolific artist, nicknamed The Fresh Prince, has put out two albums in the past 12 months, The Prodigy and Crocodile Teeth, and today he is celebrating the former turning one year old with an animated video for Popcaan collaboration "Pree." The Prodigy is a monster project, clocking in at 35 tracks and featuring inspiration from across the musical landscape; trap, drill, R&B, and classic hip-hop all filter through into Skillibeng's Jamaican party music.

Popcaan shared the fun-filled visuals for his latest single "Live Some Life" over the weekend. Featuring production from Karey Records, the uptempo track finds the dancehall star enjoying life's spoils which, in the director Florian Joahn-directed clip, he shares with the people around him at a packed neon-lit street party and near the beach.

Mixpak Records founder Dre Skull has an extensive list of collaborations with Popcaan, from his productions on the albums Forever and Where We Come From, and linked up with Nigerian pop star Mr. Eazi in 2019 for "Supernova." All three artists have come together for “Sekkle & Bop,” a new single out today.

Popcaan has surprised fans with a brand new mixtape. Titled FIXTAPE, the 19-track project arrived on Jamaican Independence Day (August 6) and is released in conjunction with DJ collective Chromatic Sound.
