Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reiterated Manchester United's desire to keep Jesse Lingard beyond his current contract. Lingard, 28, is out of contract in June and he has only started once this season - in the Carabao Cup - despite scoring twice as a substitute in the Premier League wins over Newcastle and West Ham.
The England international embarked on a productive loan spell at West Ham earlier this year but United did not receive an acceptable offer for Lingard in the summer and he has rejected their opening offer of a new contract.
Lingard could make his first league start for United since New Year's Day 2020 at Leicester on Saturday and Solskjaer admits the forward has merited more playing time. "Jesse's had a good start to the season,"
