The snake catcher was rushed into emergency surgery following the severity of the injuries - which have left scars a year after the scary encounter.

Although carpet pythons aren't venomous, their bites can cause severe damage as they have 80 backward facing teeth, which help prevent prey from escaping. In an update about his injuries, Durrant said he still hasn't gained the full feeling back into his wrist."Recovery was reasonably fast and defied expectations," he said."I was back at work 48 hours later, though in a sling and cast.

I went through a rehabilitative period of physio and rest and still have lasting nerve pain/pins and needles."The wildlife expert added that he has sustained "some lasting internal damage" but says he can still continue what he loves to do with his work. To stay.
