Manchester City ’s Champions League hopes this season could be dealt a massive blow today by prime minister Boris Johnson. The PM is expected to announce that anyone arriving into the UK from next month will face a 14-day quarantine.
This would make life extremely difficult for the Premier League champions to host any European teams. City are due to welcome Real Madrid to the Etihad for their Champions League last-16 second leg when the action gets back underway.
Pep Guardiola ’s men beat the Spaniards 2-1 in the first leg in the Bernabeu and are on course to reach the quarter-final. But it would not be realistic to ask Real to quarantine for 14 days in England before playing City.
