READ MORE: Man whose penis 'fell off' had new one on his arm for 6 years before being reattached Now, speaking on Channel 4’s Skin Deep series, Roshaante has shared his surgery story that helped him come to terms with being born intersex. “This scar was given to me from having phalloplasty,” he revealed, pointing to his forearm.“Phalloplasty is basically a surgical procedure where they remove fat, muscle, arteries, veins, skin, from the arm to sculpt a penis.“Then after they’ve sculpted a penis and everything, it’s left without a penis head for about a year or two, which means that you have a dong with no penis head.”Once the member had been constructed, Roshaante explained how doctors had also lengthened his urethra and inserted an erectile device so that he was able to have sex.“And on top of that, they put the testicular implants in so that you can have swinging, hanging balls,” he added.Despite now being happy with his appearance and lifestyle, Roshaante admitted that the operations had been time consuming and costly.“I’ve had five surgeries, I’m going in for my sixth and they cost me nearly £79,000,” he revealed.Now working as a model and actor, Roshaante delved into more detail about the broad spectrum of possibilities that could see a person classed as intersex.To get more lifestyle stories from Daily Star delivered straight to your inbox sign up to one of our free newsletters here.He explained: “Intersex is when you’re born with both genitalia, or you might not be born with both genitalia, you could have inverted testicles like I did, or you could have ovaries but have a penis… It’s a wide spectrum of different things that you could have.“I found out that I was intersex at 11, I wanted to live life as a female.
