dog attack which has led to the arrest of one man and destruction of five American bulldogs.The 63-year-old female was reportedly attacked and killed inside a house and emergency services were contacted at around 4.25pm on October 3, but she was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.The attack took place at St Brigids Crescent, Vauxhall, with neighbours claiming that "at least two" dogs were involved in the attack.Since the attack, Merseyside Police have confirmed that five American bulldogs were inside the property and the animals have since been seized by officers and destroyed.An investigation has been launched by police who have arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of owning a dog dangerously out of control - with the man currently in custody.The 63-year-old victim has yet to be been formally identified but her next of kin have been informed.
A post-mortem will in turn be performed to establish the cause of death as Detective Inspector Katie Coote expressed her sadness over the incident.She said: "This is clearly a very distressing incident and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the lady who died.
