Lockerbie mum turns her passion for old motors into cool business

Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.Lockerbie’s Linny Oliphant has dreamed of owning a shiny VW Beetle from the age of eight.So when the classic car fanatic finally got her hands on a 1972 VW T2 bay window Dormobile – which she calls Ruby – and saw how much the vehicle made others smile too, an idea was born.She added Bonnie – a beautiful cream 1973 VW Beetle 1303 Convertible with rich red leather interior – and set about to turn them into a business.Linny launched The Love Bug D&G on March 7 which was the 70th birthday of the VW campervan.A couple of weeks later, the UK went into lockdown with the Covid-19 pandemic.No-one would have blamed her for throwing in the towel but Linny is made.
