The previously announced two-hour holiday special film featuring country/pop superstar Dolly Parton has set its debut date.

Selome Hailu Reese Witherspoon has shared a first look at Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods in “Elle,” Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming “Legally Blonde” prequel series. The series recently began filming, Witherspoon announced on Instagram.

In the photo above, Lexi Minetree is making her official debut as Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde prequel Elle as Prime Video begins production on the original series.

Amazon started as a bookstore, so it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that many of the originals produced by Amazon Studios for Prime Video are based on books. In fact, some of the buzziest, most talked about shows and movies that Prime Video has to offer are come straight from the page, teen drama “The Summer I Turned Pretty” and the critically acclaimed action series “Reacher” among them.

Paper Flowers,” based on the story of 22-year-old Shalin Shah, whose battle with cancer garnered viral attention in 2015. The film will premiere June 20 at the Dances With Films Festival at the TLC Chinese Theater in Hollywood with two additional screenings taking place on June 26 at the London Indian Film Festival and the Birmingham Indian Film Festival.

The drama continues for Belly (Lola Tung) and brothers Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Calasegno) as Belly remains torn between the two in Season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty. Prime Video today unveiled a teaser trailer, set to Taylor Swift’s “August” from her 2021 Grammy-winning album folklore. Season 2 picks up following the Season 1 finale where Belly, who had seemed committed to a relationship with Jeremiah, surprisingly kissed Conrad at the conclusion of the season-ender.

Jake Bongiovi is adding another project to his resume!

Matt Donnelly Senior Film Writer Jake Bongiovi, budding actor and son of rocker Jon Bon Jovi, is one of three young stars who have joined the cast of the comedy “Rockbottom,” Variety can report exclusively. Bongiovi, a considerable social media presence and native to the music space, will join McKaley Miller (“Ma”) and Teala Dunn (“Crush”) in the feature project from writer-director and SFX makeup guru Todd Tucker (“The Terror of Hallow’s Eve”). The actors will orbit lead Tom Everett Scott (“That Thing You Do,” “13 Reasons Why”). Tucker’s script, co-written with Greg Zekowski, follows 1980s hair metal band CougarSnake, whose career ended just as it was starting due to clashes over the direction of the group. In the present day, a mention of the band in an interview by Billboard-charting, Gen-Z music star Bryce Cooper (Brandon Butler), whose absentee father introduced him to CougarSnake as a child, creates a frenzy to find the members of the group and reunite them as opening act for Cooper’s forthcoming charity concert. Scott stars as Jesse, the bass player for CougarSnake, who has not-so comfortably settled into single fatherhood. Unsure whether he wants to relive his faded rockstar dreams, his daughter Alex (Miller) and her best friend Kat (Dunn) join forces to change his mind and get the band back together. Bongiovi will play Justin, the potential new lead singer, who must overcome stage fright to lead the band back to glory.

"The Goldbergs" are killing off comedian Jeff Garlin’s character following on-set misconduct allegations and his departure from the show. The co-showrunners, Chris Bishop and Alex Barnow, confirmed the news in a recent interview.  "This is going to be a family that has not reconciled the fact that their father’s gone but has sort of moved on and has dealt with a lot of that," Barnow told with Entertainment Weekly of Garlin’s characters departure.

The film follows the backstage story and on-camera results of Parton’s desire to share “mountain magic” at Dollywood during Christmas. When three characters known as the “Three Wise Mountain Men” appear to Parton, she finds herself on a private journey into her past. By the time her special is set to air, a newly inspired Parton finds that she has renewed understanding of the magic of Christmas.
