If one asked Wendi McLendon-Covey how she created the lovable and zany mom from “The Goldbergs,” I’d imagine she’d use one of the overbearing matriarch’s famous lines delivered to a random stranger regarding the origins of her three children: “I made these people. Me. I made them with my body.” With an undeniable “schmoop” factor and countless “huggies,” McLendon-Covey made the unapologetic “smotherer” with her body, heart and soul. Wendi McClendon-Covey is opening up about Jeff Garlin leaving The Goldbergs!

For the past two seasons, The Goldbergs has been led by now-widowed Beverly Goldberg (Wendi McLendon-Covey). During an interview on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live Tuesday, the Bravo star asked McLendon-Covey how she feels about Beverly being a widow following the exit of fellow series star Jeff Garlin, whose character, Beverly’s husband Murray, was killed off.

A golden life for this Goldbergs star! Wendi McLendon-Covey, who has portrayed lead Beverly Goldberg on the hit ABC sitcom since 2013, gave Us Weekly an exclusive look at her daily routine.

"The Goldbergs" are killing off comedian Jeff Garlin’s character following on-set misconduct allegations and his departure from the show. The co-showrunners, Chris Bishop and Alex Barnow, confirmed the news in a recent interview.  "This is going to be a family that has not reconciled the fact that their father’s gone but has sort of moved on and has dealt with a lot of that," Barnow told with Entertainment Weekly of Garlin’s characters departure.

Wendi McLendon-Covey became an instantly iconic television mom the moment she donned Beverly Goldberg's feathered locks on. But even after nine seasons of her hit ABC comedy, the hilarious actress has a hard time counting herself among the greats.«That anyone would consider me an iconic TV mom is such a compliment, because I grew up with Marion Cunningham and June Cleaver and all the greats,» McLendon-Covey told ET's Kevin Frazier as she was honored as one of ET's Iconic TV Moms this Mother's Day. «I loved watching those moms, and now that I’m playing a mom, oh my god, I have such a new respect for moms everywhere, because it is not up for the faint of heart.»As for what other TV character she'd compare Beverly to, the star named Cloris Leachman's memorable nosy neighbor, Phyllis Lindstrom, from «She was actively helicopter parenting,» she noted with a laugh.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter“The Goldbergs” has been renewed for Season 10 at ABC.However, questions still remain about how the single-camera comedy series will handle Jeff Garlin’s character, Murray Goldberg, going into the new season.Garlin exited “The Goldbergs” in December following an investigation into the comedian’s onset behavior after he was  accused of misconduct. Variety exclusively reported that Garlin would still be a part of Season 9 through the use of off-camera dialogue pulled from earlier episodes and unused takes, as well as previously shot images of Garlin.According to an individual with knowledge of the production, official plans for Garlin’s character are forthcoming, but it is likely that he will be written off the show.
