Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Liverpool record goalscorer Ian Rush reckons he would have netted more playing today

Liverpool legend Ian Rush fully believes his goals tally for the club would have skyrocketed if he had been playing in the modern day.

The Welsh hitman spent with 15 years at Anfield, which was split across two spells as he had a short stint with Juventus in between.

He first moved to the Merseysiders from Chester City in 1980 while he was still just a teenager. Rush spent the 1987/88 campaign at Juventus in Serie A before returning to Liverpool and finally left Anfield in 1996 when he joined Leeds at the age of 34.

While he did play at the start of the Premier League era, football has changed dramatically even since the latter stage of Rush’s career.
