Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Ex-Liverpool youngster Jordan Rossiter opens up on 'next Steven Gerrard' tag

Ex- Liverpool youngster Jordan Rossiter has opened up on the comparisons labelling him the 'next Steven Gerrard ' when he was breaking through to the first team from the club's academy.

Born in Liverpool, Rossiter had been on the books of his hometown club from the age of six, and captained their youth sides before making his senior debut as a 17-year-old in 2014.

Coming through the ranks the midfielder was likened with Reds hero Gerrard by legends such as Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler due to his similar background and playing style.

However after being handed an opportunity under Brendan Rodgers, Rossiter went on to make just five appearances for the club, before leaving for Rangers in 2016.
