Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Glen Johnson believes Jordan Henderson "snapping" at Luiz Suarez during a training session was a pivotal moment in the midfielder's Liverpool career.

Henderson was signed from Sunderland in 2011 for £20million - a fee which raised eyebrows at the time. A frustrating first few years at Anfield saw him almost clinch the Premier League in the 2013/14 season but fall just short.

There were also times when Henderson's quality on the ball was questioned during a frustrating trophy-less spell for the club.

But since being appointed Steven Gerrard's successor as captain in 2015, he has cemented himself as a Liverpool fan favourite.
