Paul O’Grady has died at the age of 67. The Paul O’Grady’s Saturday Night Line Up host died ‘unexpectedly but peacefully’ on Tuesday evening, a statement shared with the PA news agency via a representative said.

Tributes have been pouring in from the entertainment world, with Carol Vorderman and Lorraine Kelly among the first to pay their respects.

His husband Andre Portasi said: ‘It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening. ‘We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss. ‘He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion. ‘I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years. ’Ballet dancer Portasio and O’Grady were married during a low-key wedding ceremony in 2017 at the Goring Hotel in London, with guests thought to have included stars including Sir Ian McKellen and Julian Clary.

Most recently, O’Grady had announced he was teaming up with Boom Radio after quitting Radio 2 in August, confirming at the time that he was ‘unhappy’.
