Paul O’Grady fans have been left in tears after the first episode of his hit show For the Love of Dogs aired on Thursday night, following his tragic death.

After the comedian died ‘unexpectedly but peacefully’ at the end of March aged 67, the new series - and what will now be the last - began airing last night.

Series 11 of the much-anticipated show, that’s based around day-to-day life at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, has begun airing as planned, prior to O’Grady’s tragic death last month.

But many fans were feeling emotional watching the legendary comedian with his beloved dogs. At the end of the first episode, the credits featured a picture of O’Grade and one of his beloved pooches and rolled in silence as a tribute to the much-loved comedian, leaving heartbroken fans in tears.
