Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has appointed MP Kate Green as his new shadow education secretary. The Stretford and Urmston MP replaces Rebecca Long-Bailey, who was sacked from the opposition front bench this week.
Ms Long-Bailey was sacked for sharing an “antisemitic conspiracy theory”. Mr Starmer fired her after she supported an article which claimed police responsibility for George Floyd’s death had received training from the “Israeli secret services”.
