Labour's Lloyd Russell-Moyle has quit as a shadow minister, blaming a 'torrent of online' hate targeted at him and his staff.
The Brighton MP announced on Twitter that he had spoken to Labour leader Keir Starmer and asked to step back as Shadow Minister for the Natural Environment.
Mr Russell-Moyle recently apologised after appearing to accuse Harry Potter author JK Rowling of using her experience of sexual assault as "justification" for her comments about trans people.
