Idrissa Akuna Elba OBE (born 6 September 1972) is an English actor, writer, producer, rapper, singer, songwriter and DJ. He is known for roles including Stringer Bell in the HBO series The Wire, DCI John Luther in the BBC One series Luther, and Nelson Mandela in the biographical film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013). He has been nominated four times for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film, winning one, and was nominated five times for a Primetime Emmy Award.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is throwing shade at Cats movie again: ‘The whole thing was ridiculous’

Cats movie, but that didn’t stop him throwing shade its way yet again. The 72-year-old, who composed the famous Broadway musical, wasn’t happy with the Tom Hooper directed movie adaption, which ended up being widely panned by critics despite its stellar cast.

It featured the likes of Idris Elba, Dame Judi Dench, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson and James Corden, but its star power just wasn’t enough to get Andrew on board.

So much so, that he’s branded the entire movie ‘ridiculous’ in a new interview, while criticising its director Hooper for not reaching out to those who worked on the original show.
