Kilmarnock residents submit objections against new housing estate plans

Kilmarnock estate.Clowes Developments Scotland want to erect 73 homes on the site of the former BMK carpet factory on Barbadoes Road.The new properties would offer two, three or four bedrooms, according to drawings if given the go-ahead.The Kilmarnock Standard reported last month that the proposals would see new homes built on a flood plain next to an eyesore gas tank.Plans lodged with East Ayrshire Council include 146 car parking spaces, access roads, open space and drainage.A number of homes have already been built as part of phase 1 of the development.Three residents have raised objections to the plan to build on the brownfield land.James McKie said the phase 1 building generated noise and dust with portable cabins and a toilet block.
