pit bull that viciously mauled its 82-year-old owner to death has received a flurry of adoption offers in India.Despite the harrowing death of its former owner, the pit bull has received a plentiful amount of adoption offers, with many defending the killer dog for what they claim was a freak accident.The dog killed its owner early last month, but many have defended the pooch and claimed the death was the result of a freak accident, rather than an active intent to maul and murder.READ MORE: Impact Wrestling's Sami Callihan praises 'island of misfit toys' after leg break returnReports indicate that retired teacher Sushila Tripathi, 82, lived with her 25-year-old son, a pit bull and Labrador.Tripathi was found severely injured by her son who had returned home from the gym after the attack, but nearly a dozen people believe the dog shouldn't be blamed for the death.As many as eight people and a non-government organisation have approached local governing bodies and asked to adopt the pet.They believe the dog should not be held responsible for the attack, with the pooch from Kaiserbagh, India, now under a 14-day observation period.Abhinav Verma, the chief veterinary officer at Lucknow Municipal Corporation, confirmed the dog would be placed under a fortnight's observation.

Verma said: "We have received several offers from across the country for dog adoption. We have put it under 14-day observation and will make a final decision after that."One of the hopeful pooch adopters, Amit Jani, 39, said: "When I heard about the Kaiserbagh incident, I was shocked but with people labelling the dog as vicious, I decided to adopt it."I already have a pit bull and it never shows any aggression.
