Former TOWIE star Kate Ferdinand has revealed how she "sobbed her heart out" on her first Mother's Day with husband Rio and his children.The 31-year-old married the former footballer in 2019, becoming a stepmother to his children; Lorenz, 16, Tate, 14, and Tia, 11.
Rio tragically lost his first wife and mother to his kids, Rebecca Ellison, to breast cancer in 2015. Speaking on her Blended podcast alongside her husband, Kate reflected on that first Mother's Day the couple were together, saying she felt upset when she didn't receive a card or a gift as a sign of appreciation from her new family.
The Mirror reports that pregnant Kate, who shares a son Cree with Rio, said on her podcast: "I wasn't a biological mum. I think it was our first Mother's Day - maybe I'd been living here about six months, something like that."And although I wasn't a biological mum I kind of felt like I'd taken on the mum role.
For me, going from living at home on my own to taking the kids to school, cooking them dinner, I felt like a mum."Speaking directly to Rio, Kate continued: "I really thought I might get a card from you, and I didn't get a card from you.
