The Dam Busters star John Fraser has died aged 89 following a battle with cancer.His family have confirmed the news, explaining that he died peacefully in his sleep.
Fraser passed away after a year-long battle with cancer, and he is survived by his partner, artist Rodney Pienaar, 68.The legendary actor starred in more than 20 films throughout his career which spanned decades.These included Tunes Of Glory in 1960 and The Waltz of the Toreadors in 1962.He first found fame when he played Flight Lieutenant J V 'Hoppy' Hopgood in the 1955 British war film Dam Busters.At the time of Fraser's stardom, homosexuality was still illegal, and as a gay man this contributed to his wishes to step out of the spotlight.
