The 57-year-old ex-footballer got Rudimental DJ Locksmith in a headlock after he claimed the former Wimbledon "Crazy Gang" striker the weakest in the celebrity team.
They were dragged apart and separated by the Channel 4 show's instructor and former soldier, Ant Middleton, 39. The fiery row happened during a game of "murderball" which saw contestants fight for possession of a tyre and push it over the opposing team's goal.
Locksmith, who's real name is Leon Rolle, 32, explained: "He wasn't able to control himself. I could see the red in his eyes.
