Promising midfielder Garner is one of United's most highly-rated prospects and the club have moved to tie him down to a new deal until 2024, with the option of a further year.
Garner spent the first half of last season on loan at Watford, where he struggled for minutes, but then moved to Nottingham Forest for the rest of the campaign in January.
The 20-year-old was a revelation in the east midlands, becoming a key player as he made 20 appearances and scored four goals.
