Bradley Walsh, along with fans of The Chase, was completely astonished after a contestant revealed how many pets they had at home, which had some very unusual characteristics.41-year-old Lee introduced himself and told Bradley that he was a betting shop supervisor, unbeknownst to the presenter what eight-legged friends he had at home.Bradley then asked him if he “quizzes” to which Lee told him that he dabbles “every now and then”.The contestant, who works just outside of Bristol, admitted that he likes to watch sports and enjoys following Everton, Bristol Rovers and NFL.
He then dropped the bombshell: “I also collect strange pets. I’ve got 16 tarantulas at the moment, all named after sportspeople.”A gobsmacked Bradley’s jaw dropped and he took a moment to process the information before continuing his questioning. The presenter then asked him how big his largest tarantula is.Lee told him that it was “about as big as his palm” and aptly named Magpie after the Newcastle United team, as they both share the same colours.
He then went on to say that he’d named one Pelé after the Brazilian football player, as the spider is also Brazilian, and one called Betty because he “has a friend who has a big bum,” a trait she also shares with the spider.Shocked, Bradley eventually moved the conversation on and asked him what he would do with the prize money.
Lee replied: “I’d love to go to America, probably watch the Buffalo Bills in their own land, or go to the US Masters.”Amazed fans instantly took to Twitter to share their thoughts about the contestant’s large collection of exotic arachnids.
