Minecraft players are being warned about a significant vulnerability in a number of modded servers, leaving their machines defenceless against hackers.As reported by Tom’s Hardware, the Minecraft Malware Prevention Alliance (MMPA) notified players over the weekend of this discovery. “BleedingPipe is an exploit being used in the wild allowing FULL remote code execution on clients and servers running popular Minecraft mods on 1.7.10/1.12.2 Forge,” the team explained.They added that there may be more versions of Minecraft that could be at risk of the exploit and suggested that players take this warning seriously.

Mojang developers has launched a pledge to tackle irresponsible NFTs in gaming.Environmental video game group Climate Replay has launched its NFT / Digital Ownership Pledge on its website in a bid to help the industry “work towards a sustainable, socially responsible, equitable future for all.”The organisation is encouraging people to sign the pledge to “tell studios to always put players and planet first.”“We recognise that for many studios, discussing the possibility of NFTs or digital ownership is not a matter of ‘if’, but ‘when’,” starts the announcement.At their best, games introduce us to new friends; immerse us in vivid worlds; and help us through tough times. Mary Parent and Roy Lee will produce, and Jill Messick will receive a posthumous credit for working on the film prior to her death in 2018.

Minecraft were discovered on a group of youth’s phones.As reported by Moscow Times (via Eurogamer), three teens – Nikita Uvarov, Denis Mikhailenko, and Bogdan Andreyev – were all 14 when they were arrested in 2020 for hanging political leaflets around an FSB building in Siberia. The FSB is Russia’s security service, and is the successor of the KGB.The trio have since been found guilty of “undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities,” which the state says includes plotting to blow up an FSB building they had constructed in Minecraft.This was discovered via the teens’ phones, which – as well as showing a plot to blow up the building in Minecraft – allegedly also included videos of them making pyrotechnics and throwing Molotov cocktails at a wall.Now, Uvarov has been issued a five year sentence to be carried out at a penal colony, whilst Mikhailenko and Andreyev were given three and four-year suspended sentences respectively.Before being given a harsher sentence for his part in the Minecraft “plot”, Uvarov was kept at a pre-trial detention centre where he says he was put under mental and physical pressure.In his closing statement to court, Uvarov said “I am not a terrorist, I am not guilty,” and added that he “would just like to finish my studies, get an education and go somewhere far away from here, somewhere I don’t irritate anyone from the special services.”Earlier in the week, it was announced that the ‘My Wedding Stories‘ pack for The Sims 4 will not launch in Russia due to the country’s homophobic law.

Minecraft is synonymous with its blocky appearance, but a combination of mods can now transform the game’s visuals into something resembling a AAA game with Pixar-style visuals.As spotted in GamesRadar, the results of the mod, which uses the Devorian Steampunk Resource Pack and Kappa Shaders, looks quite unlike Mojang’s creative building sim.However, achieving these results appears to come at the risk of being too much work for even the most powerful GPUs. The below screenshot also appears to be the only image shared so it’s not known how the rest of the game actually looks with the mods.
