The authorities had discovered the vet's damaged iPad, which held crucial evidence of his abuse of his wife, Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper).
However, with the screen smashed, they were unable to access the data immediately, forcing them to release Tom. Jimmy welcomed his nephew back with open arms, but Nicola, who had initially reported Tom to the police, was less than thrilled to see him.
Tom attempted to put on a united family front to win Jimmy's support, but when he went to collect their daughter Angelica (Rebecca Bakes), Nicola confronted him.
