David Beckham wants to hijack David Silva's proposed move to MLS rivals New York City. Inter Miami president Beckham has targeted the Manchester City midfielder and is keen to lure him to Florida this summer.
Silva, 34, will leave the Etihad at the end of this season but has not confirmed he is retiring and is keen to prolong his career elsewhere.
The former Spanish international has been linked with a move to City's sister club in New York. But it is understood Silva's representatives have held a series of talks with Inter Miami bosses about a lucrative contract with them instead.
Beckham, who is joint owner of the team, is willing to make Silva the club's highest paid star on a deal worth $600,000-a-season.
