IKEA to shut all Scottish stores as coronavirus crisis hits furniture giant

IKEA is to close all its Scots stores due to the outbreak of coronavirus. The Swedish furniture giant made the decision to protect customers and workers from the spread of Covid-19.All stores across the UK will shut as of Friday from 6pm onwards.

The decision to close will affect branches in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Peter Jelkeby, Country Retail Manager and Chief Sustainability Officer for IKEA UK, said: “These are extraordinary times and I know that, like all of us here at IKEA, many of you are concerned about coronavirus (COVID-19).
