IKEA closes all UK stores in coronavirus emergency measures

IKEA is closing all its stores across the UK and Ireland as part of its emergency coronavirus measures. The Swedish furniture giant will go online-only from Friday at 6pm, with customers still able to browse and buy items through the IKEA website or app.

However they're being warned to expect longer than normal delivery times due to high demand. Peter Jelkeby, IKEA'S Country Retail Manager and Chief Sustainability Officer, said: "As a precautionary measure against the ongoing risk of COVID-19, we have decided that, at 6pm on Friday 20th March, we will temporarily close all the IKEA stores across the UK and Ireland to customers.
