Former Arsenal player Ian Wright has slammed PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor for his handling of the situation regarding Premier League players taking wage cuts.

There is still debate raging over the best way for elite footballers to help out amid the coronavirus crisis, with the PFA urging them to refuse the 30 per cent pay cut currently proposed by clubs as it would deny the NHS finances through taxes.

Captains of each Premier League team are reportedly discussing matters in a WhatsApp group, but speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live Wright said the PFA should be taking more of a lead on the matter. "It's embarrassing," he said. "They should be speaking on the frontline - that's what they are paid for.
