Alzheimer’s Society has also helped by introducing me to other people with early-onset dementia, which makes it feel less lonely – some were diagnosed a decade ago and still have normal lives, which gives me hope.For now I’m trying to stay positive.
I’m not taking medication but I’ll start treatment when things deteriorate. Some days, making a cup of tea is hard work and if I’m watching a TV series, I’ll often forget what happened in previous episodes.I was finding my feet with the diagnosis when the first lockdown hit, and during this time my speech started to slow down.
