IT was the wrangle over a bangle that rocked football and became a diplomatic incident. When 1966 World Cup hero Bobby Moore was accused of stealing a bracelet from a Bogota hotel foyer boutique 50 years ago today, England feared they would have to defend the Jules Rimet trophy in Mexico without their captain.
Moore was left behind in Colombia, under house arrest, and was released just five days before their opening game at the 1970 tournament against Romania.
