Homes were evacuated as firefighters battled a serious blaze near Newbury in Hampshire. Ten pumps and two water carriers were needed to bring the fire at a property in Woolton Hill under control over two hours last night.
Residents reportedly heard a huge explosion and saw manhole covers blown into the air, reports Newbury Today. The Fire Service has posted dramatic pictures from the scene on Twitter.
A video shows plumes of smoke rising from the property's roof - which has large been destroyed - as a firefighter douses it in water from above.
