A dad and his girlfriend have been charged with murder after police found a body, believed to be that of the man's missing toddler.
Kansas City Police found the remains in a woodland before Howard Jansen, 29, and Jacqulyn Kirkpatrick, 33, were arrested. Wyandotte County District Attorney, Mark Dupree has since confirmed the pair have subsequently been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child endangerment and criminal desecration.
Both face life sentences if convicted. The body is believed to be Olivia Jansen, aged three, who Jansen told police had vanished from his home in the Turner area of the city on Friday morning sometime before 8.30am.
