Heroic expat living in Ukraine now makes petrol bombs as Russian soldiers advance

Russian invasion of Ukraine. Ashley Pool, from Grimsby, emigrated to Ukraine to join their military where he has now served for four years.

The 29-year-old has now had a change in deployment as he helps fight off Russian soldiers as he protects the country he moved to.Whilst he was standing with his fiance's family, Ashley found himself trapped as Russian soldiers advanced into Odessa, Ukraine.His fiance's family eventually managed to cross the border into Moldova and are currently on their way to a refugee camp in Romania, despite their route to safety, Ashley took the decision to stay and fight for Ukraine.The heroic soldier is one of many 18-60-year-old men who are being asked to stay and defend the country from Putin's brutal invasion while women and children flee Ukraine to surrounding countries.His bravery has left his family immensely proud, just as much as they are worried about his safety, Grimsby Live reports.

His mum, Sharon Poole, 58, said: "He originally went out to Ukraine six years ago to help the military as conflicts with Russia have been ongoing for a long time. "When we found out about the invasion it was a really scary moment.
